Why I had to sell gold figurine

The figurine was a little piece of art. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. It was a small figurine of Buddha, made of genuine gold and ornamented with red paint and some shiny gems. I remember that the figurine had a small hat, which was red too, and two tiny bracelets. It looked wonderful. I got it in a small town in India. I visited it in 1996 and this is the only souvenir that I brought home. I decided to buy it because I could not stop looking at it, it was so marvellous. Unfortunately, a few months ago I had to sell gold figurine. My sister needed some financial support and I had to do everything to help her. She was abroad at that time, far away from home. She was travelling alone in a foreign country. Unfortunately, all her money and her luggage were stolen at a bus station. She reported the incident to the police, but they could not do much. She wanted to return home as soon as possible. I decided to sell gold figurine to a collector who offered a large amount of money for it. The money that I got was enough to buy a plane ticket for my sister. I do not regret my decision, but sometimes I think that I should have sold something else instead. Like my pair of skis or my guitar, perhaps. But I guess I will need them in the future and the figurine was only a souvenir.
